BARRY GEORGE IS FREE

Justice has finally been done and Barry George is free. The jury took care over their deliberations and in the end, came to the only logical conclusion, that in no way did Barry George kill Jill Dando.

Our regards first go to Barry's family that have tirelessly stood by him and campaigned for him over the last eight years.

Our admiration also goes to Barry's supporters who have done the same, with a special mention to Scott Lomax who wrote the book soon after Barry was wrongly convicted and gave us the knowledge to fight the cause.

Finally, a small pat on the back for this label, that has stood by Barry since Martin Jeremiah wrote 'The Dragon Slew George' back in 2001. Whenever a miscarriage of justice occurs it is not initially, perhaps even for many years, a very popular move to support those that are wrongly convicted. However, there is "doing popular" and there is "doing right". As we have seen, only by "doing right" can justice eventually prevail in this world. Barry's freedom from the court today was eventually, after a long road, one small step for a man, but a giant leap for mankind - that is, a giant leap for British legal system in general.

BARRY GEORGE RE-TRIAL DRAWS TO A CLOSE

Relatives of Barry George now face an anxious wait for the verdict in the re-trial of the man wrongly convicted of Jill Dando's murder.

To observers, the re-trial has been very disappointing in that not much of it related to the charge itself. Without any forensic evidence to connect Barry George to the crime the prosecution spent a number of weeks attempting to prove that Barry George is an odd character that might appear intimidating to some people, particularly women. The press reported this avidly at first, but in no time at all, even they got bored. The unfair result of this however was that none of the defence evidence was reported.

Unusually perhaps, the defence rested after only two days. We were amazed, if not a little concerned, that the defence did not explore any alternative theories for Jill's death for the benefit of the jury, such as the alternative theory portrayed on this site, or the theory of a jilted ex-lover.

Perhaps the defence are simply confident that the facts speak for themselves - there is nothing to connect Barry George to the crime or suggest that he is capable of killing anyone, particularly killing them in such a cool and professional manner. Therefore the defence might have concluded obvious "reasonable doubt", but a lot can depend on how the jury is influenced by the judges summing up perhaps.

It would be a sad day for British justice if the wrong man was convicted for a second time for the murder committed by others. If this were to be the case it would raise serious questions as to whether a fair re-trial could be achieved after such a highly publicised vilification at the time of the first trial.

In the potential interest of us all, that might one day live in the wrong vicinity at the wrong time, let's hope that the woman-majority jury stick to the charge, stick to the evidence - and deliver a verdict of "Not guilty".

'The Real Killers of Jill Dando'

As the re-trial of Barry George comes to an end - the man who was wrongly convicted of Jill Dando's murder in the UK in 1998 - here are a few comments on the DVD 'The Real Killers of Jill Dando' that is posted on this site...

Although the reconstruction is by necessity speculative in places it is consistent with the sixteen witness statements. The DVD has also been examined by all the UK national newspapers and remains uncontested as a possibility except for one small point. One paper commented that “the police had meticulously checked all the mobile phone records on the day”. However, we are not sure that the technology at the time would have extended to pinpointing ‘pay as you go’ mobile to ‘pay as you go’ mobile activity in the area, whether all mobile owners using their phones in the location were identified [if it was at all possible to do so (e.g. if a mobile was stolen)] and by what process people would have been eliminated for legitimate phone activity. Does “meticulously checked” mean that “all mobile phone users in the area (including “pay as you go” calls) around the time of Jill’s death were traced and eliminated from enquiries”?

One paper picked up on the fact that the killer turned left rather than melt away off of Munster Road - a much shorter and less risky exit achieved by turning right. The obvious explanation for turning left would be to make a rendezvous with an accomplice. Barry George hardly had anyone he could call a friend let alone an accomplice.

A key part of what can only be described as the 'vague' identification evidence is “that all witnesses could have seen the same man and that man could have been Barry George”. The DVD hopefully gets across the fact that more than one man on the day (and before the day) was seen acting suspiciously in the area of Jill's home.

The DVD is designed to subtly carry facts via speculation also. For example:
‘Trilby Man’ may not have been a foreign spy and a London garage owner, or even connected to the murder, but we are looking for one of the three men who had discreet access to machine tools in order to re-activate the weapon. It is also likely that one of the three would have been a resident that had foreign connections, seeing as most de-activated weapons are imported from Europe. Barry George would not likely have had the connections to obtain the gun, let alone the tools, skills and dexterity to re-activate it. The weapon was always unlikely to be traced perhaps, even if it turned up as a replica in another crime, because one of the three men was clearly capable of de-activating the gun again, immediately after Jill’s murder.

LYRICS TO 'I FIGHT EVERYDAY' (bonus tracks on AMP)

Lyrics to the bonus tracks available if purchasing AMP. See The Sorcerers web-site from the new links page for details.

I FIGHT EVERY DAY - by THE SORCERERS

[Only the dead have seen the end to war - Plato]

I fight every day
I guess I’m okay
If we all get our way
In the blood and the clay
Then we’ll each die today

The whole thing began
With the presidents’ plan
But it all hit the fan
When each village and clan
Found a wild holy man

A sniper says hello
On the airport road
My wife is on the phone
Says I must hold on

They don’t know at home
That it’s bomb after bomb
So you better not roam
Beyond the green zone
Off to Ramstein you’ll go

A sniper says hello
On the airport road
My wife is on the phone
Says I must hold on

Awake on my cot
My best friend got shot
The wound would not clot
So I tied off a knot
And the rest I forgot
